What Is Onyfix?
Onyfix is a medical-grade composite nail correction system, applied directly to the toenail like a brace. Instead of cutting or removing part of the nail, Onyfix gently guides it back into a healthy shape as it grows — similar to how braces reshape teeth over time.
-
Hard formula — for ingrowing toenails (IGTN)
-
Soft formula — for stubbed or broken toenails
The composite is a poly-acrylic material developed from dental-grade products, and is natural, vegan, and cruelty-free.
How does it work?
Onyfix is bonded onto the surface of the nail and shaped to correct its growth pattern. It's applied without pressure or tension on the nail bed — you can see it, but you won't feel it.
-
Sits at the proximal fold (nail base), with an option to extend along the mid-nail plate for more severe deformities
-
Can be painted over with regular nail polish
-
Compatible with topical antifungal or other nail treatments
-
Suitable as a standalone treatment or as an adjunct following surgery (PNA/TNA) during regrowth
Who is it suitable for?
Onyfix is especially popular with patients I Horsforth who want to avoid injections or surgery, including:
-
Those with a needle phobia
-
Diabetic patients
-
Children who pick at their nails
-
Patients recovering from nail trauma
-
High-risk patients where surgery carries added risk
-
Anyone looking for a lower-cost or faster alternative to surgical correction

How Long Does It Take To Work?
Nail correction with Onyfix is gradual — the brace stays in place as the nail grows out naturally through the matrix and bed, similar to orthodontic treatment.
-
At Yorkshire Foot Clinic, Horsforth, applications are typically needed every 12 weeks (3 months)
-
Full correction usually takes 2–4 growth cycles — up to around 12 applications depending on severity
-
Lesser toes are treated with the smaller Onyfix applicator; the big toe uses the standard/hard applicator
-
More severe deformities generally respond better to treatment — the earlier it's started, the better the outcome

How much does it cost?
Your consultation cost plus the following...
-
1 toe: £30
-
2 toes: £40
-
Each additional toe: £50
